It was a successful weekend for Higgins and Kathy was pleased to be able to finish him. He went out in style - going over the Winners Dog and Reserve Winners Dog from the specialty (who were entered in his class in the regular show) and then going Best of Winners for a 4 point win.!! Proudly watching was his co-owner Susan Sullivan. Higgins was handled the first two years by Emily Horton for the AKC shows; Cyrille Young and Kathy Hanson in the Canadian shows. He is light golden in color with a nice block head and full chest. Higgins is also a Registered Pet Therapy dog at the age of 1 year old. He is a gentle and patient male with children and seniors. Growing up, Higgins loved to lay in the sandbox and wouldn't care how much sand was dumped on him. He followed the children everywhere. Higgins is semi-retired and living as a Pet Therapy dog with Susan, who had a spinal implant. He has a "higher purpose" in life and is a constant companion throughout her therapy. He may sire an occasional litter but his compassion is greatly needed by Susan. We would encourage anyone who likes to volunteer and their dog is well-behaved, to seek out Pet Therapy thru the volunteer services for hospitals & nursing homes.
