Owner: Mary Dickinson Wood. Boarding Family: Jean
& Gerald Wheeler, Deer Isle, Maine
Parents: 1997 World Champion "Magic" x
Scarlet, CGC
Emma has a Junior Hunt title and is smart as a whip.
She leads the life of luxury at a Bed & Breakfast
in Deer Isle, ME right on the ocean; goes swimming
daily in the summer and to the ski slopes in winter
at Sugarloaf; goes to church; plays fetch with her
buddy, Cain the Labrador. Emam even accompanies Gerald
during his concerts on the organ and harpsichord while
Jean turns the pages. We all think Emma is spiritual
whether she sits straight up on her hind legs and
crosses her from paws (including doing this during
vet exams). And we know sheblesses her
food with blinking eyelashes, pauses long enough to
say God is good, God is great, let us thank
him for our food. Amen. Then quietly, slowly,
takes the treat you are handing her.
Jean & I found each other thru the internet when
Willow, Emmas sister, was lost in the woods
in Surry, ME for 11 days. I sent emails to every Bed
& Breakfast and hotel in a 20 mile radius with
lost dog posters to help locate her. We chatted almost
daily. Jean had lost her Golden the year before and
her old lab was lonely. After Willow was found, Jean
came down to put a deposit on Blossoms litter
and ended up taking Emma home on a boarding contract.
Shell bring her back when Emma comes into heat,
hopefully in Jan/Feb of 2007. The website for their
Bed & Breakfast is www.ferrylanding.com.
Emma has definately impressed 2 families of their
B & B because they stopped into our house on the
way home to put deposits on upcoming litters. We look
forward to getting some new photos of Emma in Deer
Isle to share.
Emma spent the winter months Jan-May 2005 in Georgia
with Kim & Corey Trafton of Frye
Mountain Retrievers training for field work for
Junior Hunt (JH) performance title. Emma is light-medium
golden in color and has won several blue ribbons in
Conformation as well. She was the fastest ball dog
in the yard among my 7 dogs. And when no one could
find the ball, she would look to me for hand signals
or search relentlessly until she found the ball.
Emma and her sisters, Willow
and Queen
Emma have a famous World Champion father, CH HyVallee
Promise Me Magic, “Magic”.
He has won 15 International Champion titles and has
traveled the world throughout Canada, North &
South Americas. His beautiful daughters range from
light to dark in color. This was his last breeding
before retiring.
Look at Emma, Kylee and Forest
in a national ad for their Junior Hunt titles in the
Golden Retriever Club of America's magazine: http://www.fryemountainretrievers.com/Adds.htm.
(July/Aug 2005, pg 42.) She was also featured in the
GRCA's special issue for Brood Bitches and Stud Dogs
along with our other titled dogs (Mar/Apr 2006, pg
46-47).
Emma will be spayed in April 2008. She has only had
1 litter in 2004 and has never conceived since.
